〈The "Super Kuroshio" that ran on the Kisei Main Line in the early Heisei period〉

The "Super Kuroshio" was introduced in 1989 by modifying the 381 series used for the "Kuroshio". The Salo 381 was converted into a leading car, and various changes were made, including a panoramic green car with a large front window and enlarged side windows, improved interior accommodations, and a white exterior with red and orange, completely changing the image of the "Kuroshio", which had previously been operated with the JNR-colored 381 series. When it was introduced, it was a 6-car train, but three additional cars were added, and it became a maximum of 9 cars, active as a limited express train connecting the Kansai region and Nanki.
