●The 273 series began operation in April 2024 as a new type of vehicle for the "Yakumo" limited express train that runs between Okayama and Izumo City. It is characterized by its body color called "Yakumo Bronze," which is based on the concept of "a body that resonates with the scenery of the San'in and Hakubi lines and stands out in nature," and the adoption of the latest "natural pendulum system with on-board control" to improve ride comfort. Of the 11 trains, both leading cars of the 1st to 6th and 11th trains have through doors on the front, but the 7th and 9th trains, KuMoRoHa272, and the 8th and 10th trains, KuMoHa273, have a non-through structure. Normally, it is operated as a 4-car train, but when there are many passengers, two trains are coupled together to operate as an 8-car train.

◆The new 273 series vehicle for the "Yakumo" limited express train is now available. The 4-car set features a through-hole structure at both ends, while the special 8-car set features a non-through-hole structure at the Izumo-shi end (Kumoha 272) and a non-through-hole structure at the Okayama end (Kumoha 273). You can enjoy the running scenes of the Sanin and Sanyo regions together with the 10-1779 381 series "Yuttari Yakumo", 10-1907/1908 227 series 500 series Urara, and 22-243-5 Sound Card 273 series Yakumo, scheduled for release in February 2025.
